Bellflower 101

  • ABOUT

Though sometimes considered old- fashioned, bellflowers (Campanula ssp.) are a favorite genus of ours. We love the seemingly endless variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. There are bellflowers for the rock garden, for average soil, and for moist locations.

  • CARE

Most bellflowers are easy to grow in average soil conditions in full sun. However, there are also bellflowers for more specialized conditions.

The following Campanula are happiest in the rock garden, alpine trough, or scree. Provide them with excellent drainage in full sun: C. cochlearifolia, C. incurva, C. rumeliana, C. carpatica, C. garganica, C. sarmatica, etc.

Use the filters below to narrow plants by preferred soil conditions.
