Symphytum 'Hidcote Variegated' | comfrey

ARCHIVED PLANT. This page serves as reference only. We are no longer propagating this plant.

We grow comfrey for its beauty and garden value. Pollinators love the pale rosy purple flowers and we love the thick, lightly fuzzed leaves, which can be used as a mulch or mixed into compost. Easy to grow in average soil in full sun or part shade. Happiest with a bit of compost.

'Hidcote Variegated' is an attractive low-growing variety with variegated leaves and shy blue flowers. Variegation is best in part shade in hot climates. This variety is sterile, but can easily be propagate by division or root cutting.

Growers note: After growing this variety successfully for three years our plants reverted to green in summer 2025. We won't be offering this plant again unless we figure out the mystery. If anyone has insight, please share with info@olddairynursery.com
