Turkish spire poppy

Papaver pilosum ssp. spicatum

Turkish spire poppy is a very unusual perennial poppy. As the common name suggests, multiple flowers are arranged on tall spires as you would see on a Hollyhock. There may be as many as twelve flowers per stem and upper flowers open first. Orange flowers are the usual ethereal poppy form and texture. Grey-blue buds, stems, and foliage are all heavily fuzzed. Easy to grow in most soil types in full sun.
