Cardoons are some of the most magnificent architectural and sculptural herbaceous plants. We love their large, silvery, spiky leaves and purple puff flowers.

'Gobbo di Nizza' is a rare Italian heirloom with silvery-green leaves and broad white stalks. The unusual broad white stalks are edible and supposedly have a mild, nutty, artichoke-like taste. We are looking forward to trying them when they mature.

Happiest in very fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Amend soil with well-rotted compost at planting time.
