Juncus ensifolius | swordleaf rush

This North American native rush can be found growing in bogs and wet meadows. It has iris-shaped foliage and intriguing little brown inflorescence. Easy to grow in moist to wet soil, but should not be planted in standing water.

Height: 8 to 24 in.
Spread: 8 to 24 in.
Exposure: Full sun, part-shade
Soil Conditions: avoid lime, moist, boggy, along stream sides
Bloom Time: June to August
Bloom Color: Dark Brown
Native Range: western North America from Alaska to central Mexico, and into eastern Canada
