Eupatorium purpureum

Purple Joe-Pye weed is an imposing plant that is native across most of the US. Rich pink, vanilla-scented flowers are much loved by pollinators, and birds enjoy the seeds throughout winter. Whorled foliage is very attractive.

This plant should really be saved for the large border or natural landscape as it quickly dominates its surroundings.

Best grown on moisture retentive soil in full sun to part shade.
