Baptisia australis var. minor | dwarf blue false indigo

ARCHIVED PLANT. This page serves as reference only. We are no longer propagating this plant.

Dwarf blue false indigo has, perhaps, the best shape of all the baptisias. It is lower growing, perfectly mounded, and foliage is tighter. Grow this plant for the stunning blue-grey foliage and shape. Lilac-blue pea-like blossoms and rattling seed pods are an added bonus.

Growing note: Baptisia take a number of years to reach their full potential. It is worth the wait! They are long lived, healthy pants once established. Do not attempt to move them. They have extensive root systems that will not thank you. They are also difficult to grow from seed. The best thing to do is to just give them time and allow them to spread on their own.
