Persian Ironwood
Persian Ironwood is the largest member of the witchhazel family. Small red flowers appear in late winter or early spring. New leaves emerge deep reddish- purple before changing to green. Leaves are very attractive and are rarely bothered by pests or disease. Fall color varies between plants, and on the same plant from year to year; it can be intense red, orange, yellow or a mix of all three. Best fall color is achieved in full sun. Peeling winter bark on mature trees is extraordinary.
