syn. Aquilegia vulgaris 'Green Apples'
Unique creamy white double blooms emerge from green apple buds in late spring or early summer. With its ferny foliage, this bushy plant is ideal for brightening a shady spot. Will self-seed and form colonies over time.
Tips:
- These promiscuous plants will send forth a profusion of mixed up seedlings if grown with other varieties of Aquilegia.
- Columbine foliage tends to decline around mid-summer. Cut it back to the ground to enjoy bright new growth from late summer through fall.
- May cause minor vomiting or stomach upset if ingested. Mildly poisonous to livestock. Contact with sap may irritate the skin.
